Software engineer. I like finding the part of a system that will fail at 2 AM before it actually does.
Backend systems, distributed systems, reliability. Most of my work happens behind APIs: Go services, Kafka consumers, databases, and the failure modes between them.
— Engineering should make someone's work easier.
— Expect failures and design for it.
— Do not over-engineer.
— Observability is part of the feature.
Away from work, I spend an unreasonable amount of time learning how espresso extraction works. My interests tend to rotate between distributed systems, fantasy novels, homelab projects, and whatever rabbit hole I found that week.
